A pile of Lego is a common sight in our house.
It keeps Fergus quiet for hours.

Illustration Friday: Cultivate

Cultivating good manners!
As a parent, life is all about cultivating and developing your children to become exemplary little individuals. Sometimes, this is quite a challenge.

I am still practising with the dip pen, but I am a bit heavy handed, maybe I should try some sepia ink. If anyone has some tips or pointers, these would be gratefully received.

Illustration Friday: Stir

Thinking of Stir, I immediately thought of how excited my boys get when I say we're going to bake!  They love to stir the mixture. I used my dip pen for a looser, quicker style. I need to practise getting better control from my dip pen and try not to spill ink and make blotches. I love the effect of it, more spontaneous than other pens I use.

Little Red Riding Hood

I want to practise using a dip pen with a looser paint style and to build a collection of classic fairytales and nursery rhymes. Here is the first.

Illustration Friday: Warning

A warning to a little brother.

Busy bees

On the subject of a swarm, I thought I would add some bees I did a while ago to add a bit of summer atmosphere into these days when when we are on the verge of spring, but not quite.

I am just trying to get to grips with blogging, its all new to me and my mind is boggling!

Illustration Friday: Swarm

This is my first ever contribution to Illustration Friday, which is a site where artists of all abilities and styles are invited to contribute to a weekly challenge to illustrate a theme.

A terrified T-Rex being chased by a swarm of bees.
I really enjoyed participating in IF, and looking forward to the next topic.
